Tryouts?

10/20/2011

I'm thinking of holding tryouts for a new member or two to the team.
At present i do not know if this is a good idea or bad....Obviously all you guys out their looking for sponsorship will say its a great idea, but what i would be looking for is a honest team player who would represent the Blosom team with their heart.
Unfortunately there's not a lot of that, and most people just want free stuff...
Fair enough you will get your decks, but sponsorship is not about free stuff.
Id give sponsorship decks by the dozen each year for the right person.

If you think you could be this person, let me know in the comments...
I am always on the lookout for new members, so if you have what it takes, I'm probably watching you anyway.

i don't think try outs are the right thing. You want to build your company around a solid base of friends, and supportive people and i think tryouts doesn't find these types of people :)

Hold tryouts, but ask people who you want to try out, so then you can have friends ^ like billy said :) My idea on it : )

Goodluck with this idea but I don't think it is a very good idea. It would be better if you picked who you want on the team and such :)

It is because me and my family are having difficult times and losing money so I want make my passion come true but I also want to support my family by at least make them proud. I fingerboard for 1 and a half year and I became really good at it due to hard work and success. To whom this may concern,

My name is Joshua Lamberti and I love skateboarding. What actually got me into skateboarding was tech decks(fingerboards). I got started with them around 4th grade. I got my first Fingerboard when I was 9 or 10 from another kid in my class. One month after that I had a used skateboard from my older homies. It was Wal Mart brand trucks and wheels. The board was so chipped on both the nose and tail it almost didn't have pop. My mom had a banana board from the 70's and it hauled ass. Whenever I would want to bomb our street or skate to a spot, I would ride the banana board. I first learned to push on the banana but It wasn't really like learning because I was a natural. However it was around a foot and a half long so I couldn't do actual tricks(fliptricks). That's where the chipped cheap board my friends hooked me up with would I learn kickflips and what not. I finally got a better board and wheels from a church that was having a garage type sale outside in the parking lot. The lady saw how excited I was about the board and wheels and probably noticed how much of a piece of shit mine was and gave them to me. I was so happy to come up on a new used board and wheels. It wasn't that new but from what I had it was to me. I remember going home and asking my step dad for help putting it together. He handed me a screwdriver and a socket set and said do it myself. It probably took me two to three hours to put everything together! The screws weren't all the same size and I remember having a really hard time taking the trucks off. Pretty sure after I finally took the trucks off I showed my step dad and asked for his help. I remember him saying something like you're still working on that. He saw my how shitty of a set up i had and offered to buy the trucks and bolts. Only if they were cheap. My heart sank. But let me tell you it was to much! I got a set of bolts, bearings, and a sticker. It was a day I won't forget. The wheels were used but good, small soft dark red almost pink cruiser type wheels. Basically filmer board wheels but really small. They bombed the hill so I no longer needed the banana and I was off to learning kickflips. By the time I turned 13 I was ollieing 13 steps. Ok well I attempted ollieing the 13. I ended up breaking my elbow. It was my first attempt but I flew perfect pop perfect Ollie but the impact was to much. I never tucked and rolled before so I stuck my arm out and there went my summer vacation. It was terrible. That summer. I didn't really skate my fingerboard through high school. I probably had one lying around and every once in awhile would skate flat for a bit but nothing serious. By the time I was 18 19 I hadn't fingerboarded ever anymore. I got into partying but skating was number one. I forgot about fingerboards. I found a circuit board lying on the floor outside my bedroom door about a month and a half ago. I am guessing my nephew dropped it because it was a brand new circuit board and hadn't been used at all. I picked it up and immediately had shit on lock. Ok not everything but damn I missed that shit. I haven't skated hard in about three years. My skateboard been stolen this past January! The past 3 years I'd still skate flat every once in awhile but nothing ever serious. I don't have a skateboard anymore and I'm no longer sponsored so skateboarding isn't really what I do anymore. If we played a game of skate you'd still have a hard time beating me though. I will never stop loving skateboarding. So finding the fingerboard really got me back into it. I don't wanna skate hard like I used to because it's my body that I'm not trying to hurt anymore but fingerboards and building obstacles is definitely something I can still shred! I honestly have only owned a tech deck and a circuit board so I've never actually owned an actual good Fingerboard. I still got it now that I've been fingerboarding this past month with the circuit board I found. I built a marble ledge and i still have the flat bar i got when I was little so that's cool. But I want an actual fingerboard and the foam tape. I am and will always be a true skateboarder. I love it and will always! So eventually (very soon) I plan on building more ledges ramps and making a YouTube channel but I want a legit fingerboard and a legit company to send me a good package. Skateboarding has been my passion for many years now and more to come. I just picked up fingerboarding again so why not try to get a company to send me a legit package. I am 26 years old and I am from and live in New Mexico. Thank you for taking the time to read, have a good day.

I really think that you should make the competition but talk the the people that want to try out talk to their parents to see if they just want the free stuff. I don’t really care about the free stuff but it is nice getting it though. But I love fingerboarding some people said I am really good at it and if you are looking for honest people you can ask Grayson gaba and me Aidan Garibaldi we both love fingerboarding.
